We all know about Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall, having a great fall and that the King’s horses & men couldn’t put him together again. But have you ever wondered who Humpty was, why he was up on a wall, what the wall was doing there in the first place? This story answers those questions!

In “Beyond the Wall, the Untold Story of Humpty Dumpty” — Humpty was an egg, living in a world full of eggs. But what those eggs did not realize is that beneath their shells, they were actually birds — born to soar! Sometimes we hide behind a shell, whether that shell is shyness, fear or self doubt; but we can break through!

Step 1: Begin with a Story
What to do
Play one Majik Kids story. Put out activities for the children to do as they listen, such as colouring or play-doh.
You might choose to say something like “We’re going to listen to a short story together. Just listen in whatever way feels comfortable… You can sit, lay down or be quietly creative with materials that have been laid out.”
Step 2: Gentle Reflection (3-5 minutes)
Choose one or two questions
You might ask:
“What part of the story stood out to you?”
“Did the story remind you of anything?”
“How does your body feel right now?”
Step 3: Creative Activity
What to do
Print and use the accompanying Majik Kids Activities PDF.
Discuss as a group. There’s no right answer.
Step 4: Short Imagination Meditation
What to do
Play the accompanying Majik Kids meditation.
You could say: “You can sit, lie down, or just listen. If you don’t want to close your eyes, that’s okay.”
Step 5: End with Movement & Joy
What to do
Play a Majik Kids song and invite movement, suck as standing and stretching, dancing, or shaking in place.
Take It Home (Optional Bridge)
You might say: “If you enjoyed this today, you can listen again at home with your family. It’s free through our school.”
Follow up: print out and hand out the bookmarks and PDF provided below. And copy the emails to share with parents.
