Empathy, Farts, and Friendship: What A Snork Named Bork Teaches Us

Imagine crash-landing on a planet where the locals have tiny arms, strange head decorations, and think you’re the weird one. Welcome to the world of Bork, a Snork with ten stretchy tentacles, one super-stretchy eyeball, and a knack for finding adventure (even when his parents are totally clueless). In this week’s story, A Snork Named Bork, we take a cosmic journey filled with wild misunderstandings, surprising friendships, and the magic of seeing the world through someone else’s… eyeball?

As parents, we often feel like intergalactic travelers ourselves—navigating a strange land filled with responsibilities, teaching moments, and the occasional crash-landing of our own. But at the heart of it all, what we want most is to give our little Earthlings the best start in life. We want them to be kind, curious, and open-minded, even when things get a little… alien.

This story offers a reminder that no matter where—or what—you’re from, we all share some universal truths. So, here are the themes we explore with Bork and his new human friend, Georgia:

♥ Empathy

What would it feel like to crash-land in the middle of an alien desert, with no idea if the locals will welcome you with hugs or hazmat suits? Bork discovers that empathy means really putting yourself in someone else’s shoes (or tentacles) and understanding their perspective. Whether you’re a Snork or a human, kindness is the best way to bridge the gap between worlds… and it seems as though many people are finding themselves arriving in strange new lands in this era of humanity’s story.

♥ Curiosity

When Bork and Georgia meet, they don’t just focus on how different they look—they ask questions, they wonder, and they laugh (especially about tootlepoofs, because let’s be honest, that’s funny in any galaxy). This story reminds us that curiosity is the key to breaking down walls. It’s what makes life exciting! What would happen if, like Georgia, we all went out to explore the unknown instead of sitting behind screens or other creature comforts.

♥ Open-Mindedness

In Bork’s world, a giant eye that can stretch around corners is completely normal. On Earth? Maybe not so much. But by staying open-minded, Georgia and Bork realize they’re more alike than they ever thought possible. Being open means embracing differences—and finding the magic in them. Whether it’s aliens, humans from other places, belief systems, backgrounds or simply embracing new experiences, the more open we are, the more friends (and fun) we’ll find!

The Science of Kindness

Did you know that being kind literally makes your brain feel like it’s soaring through the cosmos? It’s true! When you do something kind—or someone is kind to you—your brain lights up like fireworks (or, in Snork terms, a cosmic explosion of colors!).

You experience what’s called a “helper’s high,” where endorphins flood your system, making you feel fantastic. And guess what? That good feeling makes you want to keep being kind. It’s the ultimate positive feedback loop.

So, as you listen to A Snork Named Bork, inside the Majik Kids App remember: kindness and connection go beyond galaxies. Whether you have ten arms or two, a stretchy eye or two regular ones, we all have the power to make each other’s lives better. And sometimes, all it takes is a little open-heartedness, a willingness to explore the unknown, and a good laugh about the things that make us different (like Toodlepoofs—trust us, you’ll understand).

Enjoy the journey through space, friendship, and the joy of seeing the world from a whole new perspective. And who knows—maybe tonight, your little ones will dream of aliens, fireworks, and new friends just waiting to be discovered!
